What to expect from your Runners MOT Appointment
What is it?
Comprehensive full body assessment looking at running related: muscle control, strength, flexibility, mobility and balance
What it is not
- GAIT Analysis- which focuses on ankle/ foot position and prescribing insoles
- Assessment of a current specific running injury- must be able to run pain free for 10 mins, if unable to will need to book a physio assessment
- Watching the runner on a treadmill
Who is it for?
- Any runner of any ability 16 +
- Runners with recurrent niggles and injuries
- Runners preparing for a particular goal (couch to 5k / 100 miles or more)
- Runners who feel they have plateaued in their performance
- Runners not moving as efficiently as they used to
- Runners returning after time out or injury
What will it include?
- History of running habits and relevant medical history
- Assessment of
- General posture and gait pattern
- Joint mobility: Lumbar spine, hip, knee, ankle
- Muscle dynamics (strength and flexibility): glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves
- Focus areas: Achilles’ tendons, patella tendons, ITB, Plantar Fascia
- Balance and proprioception
- Core control
What will be the outcome?
Personally prescribed advice, exercises and recommendations based on any weaknesses or imbalances found
How long will it last?
Assessment will take 60 mins
