Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a bodywork technique where the therapist uses fluid movements of touch and pressure to manipulate the muscles. This in turn reduces tension and promotes relaxation. There are a range of simple to complex techniques that can be used during a therapeutic massage. The basic form of Swedish Massage is appropriate for fragile muscles and bones whilst Remedial Massage makes use of more complex movements that penetrate further into the underlying muscles to enable the most beneficial results, whilst still being a relaxing treatment. As well as the obvious alleviation of aches and pains, the benefits of therapeutic massage include: an increase in joint range of movement, improved digestive function, and an increased white blood cell count. Massage can also decrease illness-related fatigue, calm aggressive behaviour, decrease depression and anxiety, alleviate sleep disorders and emotional problems, and promote a healthy mind.
